Professional Development Manager – Position Description
Position Summary:
The Professional Development Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management, planning, and administration of all professional development and continuing education programs. This role oversees the creation, implementation, and delivery of educational curriculum and ensures compliance with continuing education (CE) requirements. The Professional Development Manager will collaborate with the President on budget projections and performance goals, coordinate educational events, and maintain regulatory filings with the South Carolina Department of Insurance. This position also plays a key role in member engagement by assisting with inquiries related to insurance education and supporting external committees and conferences.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
Lead the overall planning, coordination, and administration of all Continuing Education and Professional Development programs.
Secure and implement new educational curricula for professional development offerings.
Schedule seminars, including determining topics, locations, and instructors.
Develop annual attendance projections and budgets for educational programs with the assistance of the President.
Monitor and track the achievement of educational goals and objectives.
Regulatory and Compliance Management:
Manage the filing and renewal process for seminars and conference topics with the South Carolina Department of Insurance for CE credits.
File CE instructor applications and event rosters through the State-Based Systems (SBS) site.
Ensure all CE courses and seminars comply with state and industry standards.
Event and Seminar Coordination:
Select appropriate meeting facilities for in-person seminars and classes.
Organize pre-seminar and post-class paperwork, including sign-in sheets, instructor information, and compliance documentation.
Pack and arrange delivery of materials for off-site classes.
Database Management and Record-Keeping:
Enter and update class information and attendee records in the IIABSC Database (GrowthZone) and GoToWebinar as needed.
Maintain and update participant records, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
Budget and Financial Oversight:
Approve seminar expenses and invoices.
Order books and materials for classes as necessary.
Prepare profit/loss statements after each seminar or class.
Marketing and Communications:
Prepare and distribute marketing materials for educational events.
Maintain the IIABSC office calendar for educational events and facility use.
Member Support and Liaison Duties:
Assist members and other customers with questions regarding insurance education.
Coordinate with the SC CSR of the Year selection committee and provide advisory support.
Committee and Board Representation:
Represent IIABSC on the South Carolina Department of Insurance Continuing Education Advisory Board.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in conferences and events such as the IIABSC Spring Conference, Young Agents Conference, Annual Convention, and IIABA Education Convocation.
Attend meetings and conferences as required for program development and networking, including the SCSAE Annual Conference.
Travel Requirements:
Overnight travel may be required to attend educational classes, seminars, and other industry events.
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Experience in managing educational programs or events, particularly in a professional development or insurance-related field.
Familiarity with continuing education regulations, especially in insurance or related industries.
Ability to collaborate with leadership on budgetary planning and strategic initiatives.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proficient in database management systems (GrowthZone or similar) and virtual learning platforms (GoToWebinar or similar).
